Bursting the Bubble

Finally, after even more bad beats, more close calls, more bubbles, I had a mini breakthrough at the nightly tournament at the Venetian last night. Once we got down to five players, we agreed to a five-way chop based on our proportianate chip counts and I came away with about second place money. It was nice to be on the other end of a couple of suckouts for once. Hopefully I can carry that momentum forward for my last couple of weeks here. It was really late by the time the tournament was over, so I headed home, or at least tried to. When I got to my neighbourhood, I couldn't get onto my street because it was blocked with police tape. The police officer who was on patrol only told me that some of the houses had to be evacuated and I couldn't get by. He also said there was no way of knowing how long it would be blocked off. So at 3:30 in the morning I had to turn my car around and occupy myself somewhere for who know's how long. Poker anyone? I ended up playing through the night, which turned out to be really entertaining because the drunks were out in full force. It's been weird lately though because I feel like the more I play live, the more I realize how much I like to play online. The convenience of being able to play eight different low buy-in tournaments at a time compared to one larger scale live tourney is nice, making it a bit more difficult to motivate myself to go in and play everyday. But this is the best city in the world to play poker and I'm not here for too much longer, so you can expect me to keep grinding away.
