Drinking With the News Team for Two Days

So it turns out that internet access in Vegas is more expensive and less convenient than expected. Aaaand I've been drinking since Friday afternoon. Not quite but close. I met up with Rob and his boyz for dinner at PF Changs in Planet Hollywood Friday evening. We tried to get in to Tao, this club @ the Venetian, but the lineup was insane and our nine-to-zero guy-to-girl ratio was getting us nowhere fast. Then we went over to Tryst @ The Wynn but it cost 80 bones to get in so most of us decided to pass until Saturday, the big night. A few of the guys went though and apparently it was pretty sick. I played some poker at the Mirage, the place we're staying, for a few hours. Saturday we had the brunch buffet @ The Bellagio and it was glorious. I basically ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in one sitting. Literally. The rest of the day was spent walking around and lounging by the pool. I ordered the largest margarita in the history of mankind and that was definitely a prelude to the rest of the night. We cracked open the champagne, a gift from Molly, and headed out to the club. We had a bottle service reservation @ Pure but the line was crazy and everyone was pushing and shoving so we decided to try Tao again. By this time it was past 11 and very busy so props to Lou for hooking us up and getting us in. It didn't happen without a price though. We had to order four bottles and they were marked up by about oh... 2000% or so. But it was for a good cause. Rob actually lasted longer than expected but it all came to a screeching halt when he threw up - and when I say threw up, I mean yaked in every which direction in our VIP area, including on some of our neighbours. I was his first victim so I am currently the proud owner of pants covered in Rob's puke. At least my pants didn't cost me $1000 though, like some other guy he threw up on. He also threw up on some girl who was like trying to run away but didn't make it in time. The expression on her face was priceless. Anyway, enough about Rob's puke. Except to say that apparently it was one of the top three highlights of the night, along with me almost starting a fight with a group of guys and then falling on their table (???) and Roberto paying $365 for a foot massage. I don't really know what happened to me. I was fine until Rob got kicked out at around 2 but then it was all downhill, literally. All in all, a pretty crazy night. Today was spent sleeping and eating and before I knew it, it was time to play the 1k SHOE event @ the WSOP. I definitely was not in the zone to play today. I'd been looking forward to it for so long but the preceding night's festivities took a lot out of me. As per usual, I did not arrive to the tourament on time. It wasn't a big deal - I missed about the first seven or so hands. The table really wasn't that tough and there was a guy @ my table that I recognized from Brantford. I've seen a few guys from B-town around the WSOP actually. Anyway, I got off to a decent start by winning a couple of small pots. I have to say - it was pretty sweet to win my first WSOP pot. Unfortunately though, I lost almost half my stack in an Omaha hi/lo hand. I had the second nut lo and kept getting wrapped around with raises. Then I accidentally reraised the river by throwing in too many chips. I did not play that hand well at all. I subsequently lost a massive pot in Stud hi when I made made trip Js on fifth street but lost to this donkey who made rolled up Qs. Ah well, nothing you can do. I lasted until the seventh round or about 3 1/2 hours. So my first experience @ the WSOP was relatively short but definitely a lot of fun. Right now we're just chillin in the room and we might go out later. We're all pretty tired though. The guys are all leaving tomorrow so I'm probably gonna head over to the Rio after and play some satellites. Ok, time to sign off. Stay classy world.
